Bimco hires manager for Athens office

BIMCO has signed a contract with Elena Tassioula as manager of BIMCO’s new office in Athens, Greece. Elena will be engaging BIMCO’s current members in Athens and work to grow the membership in Greece.
Keppel and DNV GL team up to promote LNG as a ship fuel

Classification society DNV GL and Keppel Marine and Deepwater Technology (KMDTech), a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M), announced that they have signed a framework agreement to boost the uptake of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as ship fuel.

“Aktor Concessions SA” has been nominated as the preferred bidder for the granting of the right to use and exploit the marina of Alimos for a period of 40 years, through an e-Auction procedure that the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund incorporated for the first time in a concession tender.
Sulphur-sniffing drone to patrol Danish waters

In the coming months, a large drone will check emissions from ships in Danish waters to make sure they comply with the sulphur limit. The drone is provided by the European Maritime Safety Agency, and is to be used as a means of preventing ship pollution.

Today in Singapore, the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), the Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA) and the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA) signed a joint memorandum of understanding.
DNV GL awards ShipInox first AiP for OSV based LNG bunker vessel design

Classification society DNV GL has presented ShipInox with an Approval in Principle (AiP) for its new small-scale LNG carrier/bunker vessel design. It is the first ever class-approved design based on an offshore supply vessel (OSV). With a length of 92 meters the ship will have a carrying capacity of 6,000 cubic meters.
