Athens Hosts Global Cruise & Yachting Majors

SAMSA logoThe South African Maritime Safety Authority has issued guidance about which regulations are in force governing the safe handling of cargo at the country's ports.

Panama Canal: Pilotage Regulation

panama-canal-6The Panama Canal Authority has issued Advisory 08-2013 013, reminding masters of transiting vessels that the pilot assigned to the vessel shall have control of the navigation and movement of the vessel. Failure to comply with the pilot's orders, or performing manoeuvers without the pilot's consent, may result in damage to the vessel and/or Canal structures and, on occasion, sanctions to the vessel.

U.S. Port State Control Detentions on Water Mist Systems

Gulf of Mexico.jpgDue to a series of recent U.S. Port State Control (PSC) detentions within the last twelve months, regarding inoperative water mist systems on foreign flagged vessels, the Marshall Islands has issued an Advisory as follows, to underscore the importance of having all water mist systems fully checked and verified to be in satisfactory working order, prior to entering U.S. waters, particularly in the U.S. ports of the Gulf of Mexico.
