MarTecMA Forum at Posidonia to examine the commercial future of Onboard Carbon Capture

0nayto3

As the maritime sector accelerates efforts to meet tightening decarbonization targets, a forum at Posidonia 2026 will focus on one of the most promising emerging solutions: Onboard Carbon Capture Systems (OCCS).
MARTECMA will host the “Carbon Capture Systems Forum: From Concept to Commercial Reality” on Thursday, 4 June 2026, from 10:00 to 17:00 hrs, at the Conference Hall of the Posidonia Exhibition. The event will bring together key stakeholders to discuss how OCCS technologies are evolving from experimental projects into commercially viable solutions for the global fleet.
The one-day forum aims to provide an update on the latest regulatory developments, technology readiness and business models shaping the deployment of Onboard Carbon Capture Systems, while fostering meaningful dialogue among technical managers, technology providers, shipyards, classification societies, logistics specialists and other industry participants.
Among the participants will be recognized experts in maritime environmental technologies from companies and organizations such as ABS, BV, DNV, Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonization (GCMD), SDARI, ECOLOG, SMDERI Maritime, Hanwha Power, Value Maritime, Carbon Ridge, Wartsila Exhaust Treatment, PANASIA, ERMA Tech Group.
With pressure mounting on the shipping industry to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining operational flexibility, onboard carbon capture is gaining attention as a potential pathway to help vessels comply with evolving environmental regulations and market-based measures.
Industry-Focused Sessions
The forum will be structured around three thematic sessions, designed to address the full ecosystem required for OCCS deployment:
Session 1 – OCCS Regulatory, Business and Technology Update
Industry experts will present the latest developments in regulatory frameworks, market drivers, and technology progress related to onboard carbon capture systems.
Session 2 – OCCS Providers: Technology Makers, Shipyards and Logistics
Technology developers, shipyards and logistics specialists will share their experience from existing installations and discuss system integration, installation considerations, carbon handling, and the infrastructure required to support OCCS operations.
Session 3 – Experience Sharing on OCCS
Companies involved in pilot projects and early implementations will share operational insights, lessons learned, and perspectives on scaling the technology toward broader commercial deployment.
Taking place during Posidonia week, when the international maritime community gathers in Athens, the forum is expected to attract industry leaders interested in practical solutions for reducing vessel emissions and accelerating maritime decarbonization.
