PCT Celebrates World Environment Day with Coastal Cleanup at Perama Beach

Piraeus Container Terminal (PCT) organized a coastal cleanup at Perama Beach on Saturday, May 31, in collaboration with the environmental organization iSea and with the participation of the 1st Perama Sea Scouts, on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5.
This initiative is part of PCT’s environmental efforts and aims to raise awareness within the local community and protect the marine ecosystem. Company employees, together with their families and volunteer scouts, joined forces for a common goal: a cleaner and more sustainable Perama. Perama’s Mayor, Mr. Ioannis Lagoudakos, and Mr. Matthaios Lappas, Deputy Mayor, attended the event, showing their support and interest in the initiative.
With the volunteers’ participation, a significant amount of waste was removed from the beach, specifically 45 kilograms, strengthening efforts for a cleaner environment. Additionally, the activity included raising awareness about marine pollution from plastics and its impact on biodiversity.
Since 2023, PCT has been implementing targeted coastal cleanup actions, contributing to the preservation of the marine ecosystem. These initiatives are part of the organization’s corporate social responsibility and are consistently carried out in collaboration with local organizations and volunteers. Through these efforts, PCT enhances environmental awareness, promotes the value of volunteering, and tangibly expresses its commitment to sustainable development.
