According to Lloyd's Register-Fairplay data, as of March 2014, the world fleet of self-propelled, sea-going merchant ships, greater than 1,000 gross tons (GT), stood at 52,001 ships of 1,311,906,161 gross tons, including 5,344 ships, of 196,795,247 gross tons, on order.

Αustralian owner orders LNG-powered RoRo ferry from FSG

Germany's Flensburger-Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) has signed a contract with the Australian shipping company SeaRoad for an LNG-powered RoRo ferry newbuilding. With a length of 181m and a breadth of 26.6m, the vessel will offer more than 1,960 lane metres. Its speed will be 20.5 knots.
